Refund policy
Effective: October 14, 2026
An ENotary subscription payment is final once it has been charged. We return money only in the three cases in section 3, and you can switch off renewal in your workspace whenever you want, so that nothing more is billed.
1. What a subscription pays for
- Every plan is a monthly or yearly subscription, billed in advance in USD at the prices on the pricing page.
- It opens the session room, identity verification, digital sealing, audit trails, record storage and the network notary session allowance of your plan for that billing period.
- The fee is for access during the period. Unused sessions do not carry over and are not paid back, as section 4 of the terms of service explains.
- By subscribing you ask us to start providing the platform at once and you accept that any statutory right of withdrawal or cooling-off period ends once it has started.
2. What is not refunded
- Changing your mind, a deal that fell through, or no longer needing remote notarization.
- Holding few sessions, or none, during a paid period.
- A notary declining to perform a notarial act. Under section 1 of the terms the notary alone decides, as the law of the commissioning state requires.
- A recipient, county, court or agency refusing to accept a remotely notarized document. Section 7 of the terms covers this.
- A signer who failed identity verification, did not turn up, or joined from a device or connection that could not hold the session.
- A renewal that was charged, including one collected after earlier attempts were declined.
- Believing the plan was a one-off payment. The pricing page, checkout, confirmation email and workspace all show that it renews.
- Forgetting to cancel before the renewal date, or cancelling right after it.
- A feature that is not on the pricing page, or one that works differently from what you assumed.
- Choosing the wrong plan, billing term or session allowance.
- The rest of a period after you cancel. Plans are never pro-rated.
- Use of your workspace by someone else, including a colleague who was given your sign-in.
3. The only three exceptions
We refund only in these cases, only where the records in section 6 support the claim, and only up to the charge concerned.
- Double charge:
- a fault in our billing took payment twice for the same period.
- Unauthorised charge, proven:
- your card was used without permission, you report it within 14 days of the charge, and our records and those of our payment operator confirm it. The evidence decides, not the report by itself, and we may ask you to confirm that the card issuer has been told.
- Total failure of the platform:
- a confirmed fault on our side made ENotary completely unusable for an unbroken stretch, you reported it while it was happening, and we could not fix it. A single dropped session, slow uploads, partial faults and problems with your own network, browser or camera are excluded.
A refund under this section is our whole liability for the matter, never exceeds what you paid for the affected period, and goes back only to the card that was charged. One refund does not create a right to another.
4. How to ask
Email [email protected] from the address on your account within 14 days of the charge, with the date, the amount and the exception that applies. Requests that arrive later, from another address or by another route are not considered. We handle them in the order received, without a guaranteed reply time, and a declined request is not reopened.
5. Cancelling and renewals
- You can cancel in your workspace at any time, without writing to us. No renewal is charged after that.
- Cancelling does not undo a payment already taken. The plan and its session allowance stay available until the end of the paid period, and cancelling is not a refund request.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. At the start of a new period, access for it is granted and its fee is due.
- If your bank declines the charge, our payment operator retries the same open invoice over the following days. That is not a second charge. Cancelling while it is open stops later renewals, but the amount for the period already under way stays due and is not refunded once paid.
- To avoid the next period, cancel before the renewal date shown in your workspace.
6. What we keep on record
Creating an account means accepting our terms of service, which include this policy, and our privacy policy. Before payment, checkout shows the plan, price, billing term and automatic renewal, and the confirmation email repeats them.
For every subscription we keep the purchase time, the plan and price shown, your acceptance of the terms, the emails we sent and the workspace activity log, covering sign-ins, documents uploaded, signers invited and sessions held, with the technical details stored for each entry. Our payment operator keeps its own record of every charge, including the card country, where the payment came from and the outcome of bank authentication such as 3D Secure. Claims of an unauthorised charge are checked against these records.
7. Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us before your bank. A chargeback opened without contacting us first breaches our terms of service and leads to permanent closure of the account, and we send the records in section 6 to your card issuer.
8. Payments before this policy
Payments made before October 14, 2026 stay under the terms that applied on the day they were made.
