DocuSign Notary cost, pricing and a monthly alternative with sessions included
DocuSign Notary is built for enterprises: DocuSign says it fits organizations that notarize 200 or more documents a year, and it sells in-house notary seats by quote. Its on-demand service launched at 30 USD for the first signer and up to 3 seals, plus 5 USD per extra seal. ENotary is a DocuSign Notary alternative for teams that want a published monthly price: plans from 119 USD with network notary sessions, identity checks and seals included, and own-notary seats from the Business plan.
The short answer on DocuSign Notary cost
DocuSign Notary has two price paths. On-demand notarizations, run by DocuSign's pool of notaries around the clock, were announced in February 2025 at 30 USD for the first signer and up to 3 seals, and 5 USD for each additional seal. The enterprise product, where your own commissioned notaries work inside DocuSign, has no public price and is quoted by DocuSign sales, usually on top of an existing DocuSign agreement.
That split is why teams search for an alternative. A title agency, law firm or HR team that notarizes 5 to 40 times a month often does not have an enterprise DocuSign contract, and it does not want to pay per signer and per seal forever. ENotary puts both paths in one published plan: network notary sessions included every month, and your own notaries on the same platform from the Business plan.

DocuSign Notary vs ENotary side by side
DocuSign figures come from the DocuSign Notary product page and the February 2025 on-demand launch pricing. DocuSign quotes enterprise terms individually, so ask for a written quote before you compare real numbers.
| What you compare | DocuSign Notary on-demand | DocuSign Notary enterprise | ENotary Business |
|---|---|---|---|
| Published price | 30 USD first signer, up to 3 seals | Quote from DocuSign sales | 299 USD per month (249 USD billed yearly) |
| Who is it sized for | Occasional notarizations | Organizations with 200 or more notarizations a year | Teams with weekly volume, from 4 sessions a month |
| Network notary sessions | Paid per notarization | Available alongside your notaries | 12 sessions included every month |
| Extra seals | 5 USD each above 3 | Per contract | Included, up to 10 documents per session |
| Extra signers | Not listed in the launch pricing | Per contract | Included, up to 4 signers per session |

| Identity verification | Photo ID and knowledge-based authentication | Photo ID and knowledge-based authentication | ID analysis, KBA and liveness check for every signer |
| eSignature suite | Full DocuSign eSignature ecosystem | Full DocuSign eSignature ecosystem | Signing inside the notary session, not a full eSignature suite |
| API | DocuSign Notary API | DocuSign Notary API | On Scale (799 USD per month) and Enterprise |
What a month of notarizations costs on each option
Take a team that runs 12 notarizations a month, each with one signer. With 3 seals or fewer per session, DocuSign's on-demand launch price comes to 360 USD a month. If each session carries a 5-document package, that becomes 40 USD per session and 480 USD a month, before any extra-signer charges and before any DocuSign plan your team already pays for.
| Monthly volume | DocuSign on-demand (launch pricing) | ENotary plan |
|---|---|---|
| 4 sessions, 1 signer, up to 3 seals | about 120 USD | 119 USD (Starter) |
| 12 sessions, 1 signer, up to 3 seals | about 360 USD | 299 USD (Business) |
| 12 sessions, 1 signer, 5 seals | about 480 USD | 299 USD (Business) |
| 40 sessions, 1 signer, 5 seals | about 1,600 USD | 799 USD (Scale) |
The DocuSign column counts only the published on-demand fees. Additional signers, witnesses and enterprise terms are priced separately, so multi-signer closings raise the gap further. Use your own session mix and a current DocuSign quote for a final number.
When DocuSign Notary is the better choice
DocuSign is the right call more often than a competitor page usually admits. It is likely the better fit when:
- Your company already runs every agreement through DocuSign eSignature and wants notarization inside the same envelope, templates and admin console.
- You notarize a few documents a year. The on-demand path has no subscription on the notary side.
- You have an enterprise agreement with DocuSign and procurement prefers adding a line item to an existing vendor over onboarding a new one.
- You need MISMO-certified RON inside a larger DocuSign workflow, such as agreement management across legal, sales and procurement.
ENotary fits better when notarization is the job itself: steady weekly volume, multi-signer packages, a published price and your own notaries working next to network notaries without an enterprise contract.
Who switches from DocuSign Notary to a monthly RON plan
- Title and escrow teams: seller and buyer packages with several signers and a dozen seals. See notary and title services.
- Law firms and lenders: affidavits, powers of attorney and loan documents with witnesses. See notary services for business.
- HR and operations: I-9 related affidavits, employment verifications and corporate resolutions from distributed staff. See company notary.
- Companies with commissioned notaries on staff who want seats without an enterprise DocuSign quote. See how bring your own notary works.
What every ENotary plan includes
- Identity verification: ID credential analysis, knowledge-based authentication and a liveness check for every signer, with no per-check fee.
- Commissioned notaries: a network notary for every session in your allowance, plus your own notaries on Business, Scale and Enterprise.
- Session room: live audio and video, up to 4 signers and 10 documents in one session, and remote witnesses where the governing law allows them.
- Digital seal and certificate on every document, with tamper-evident PDF sealing.
- Audit trail: timestamps, SHA-256 fingerprints and identity results for every notarization, exportable as PDF, and as JSON on Business and above. Read more about the notarization audit trail.
- Templates and bulk send for the documents your team sends every week.
1. Count last quarter's notarizations
Pull DocuSign usage or invoices for the last three months and count sessions, signers and seals per month. That number decides which plan to compare against, not the list price.
2. Match the plan to a normal month
A session on ENotary is one meeting with up to 4 signers and up to 10 documents, so a closing package counts once. Pick the plan that covers a typical month. The online notary cost page lists every plan.
3. Keep DocuSign for signatures if you like it
You do not have to leave DocuSign eSignature to move notarizations. Many teams keep contracts in DocuSign and send only the documents that need a notary to ENotary.
4. Download your records before closing any notary account
Past sealed documents and audit trails stay on the platform where they were created. Export what your retention policy requires before you cancel.
DocuSign Notary questions teams ask before buying
How much does DocuSign Notary cost?
DocuSign's on-demand notary service was announced at 30 USD for the first signer and up to 3 seals, with 5 USD for each additional seal. The enterprise version, where your own notaries use DocuSign, is priced by quote. Individual notarizations through DocuSign's partner flow start at 25 USD.
Is DocuSign Notary included in DocuSign eSignature plans?
No. Notarization is a separate DocuSign product. The standard eSignature plans cover electronic signatures; remote online notarization is bought through the on-demand service or quoted as DocuSign Notary for organizations with their own notaries.
Can I use my own notary with DocuSign?
Yes, DocuSign Notary lets in-house commissioned notaries run remote sessions, and DocuSign positions it for organizations with 200 or more notarizations a year. On ENotary, own-notary seats come with the Business plan at 299 USD per month, and their sessions do not use the monthly allowance.
Is a DocuSign notarization valid in all 50 states?
DocuSign says its notarizations are valid across all 50 states through interstate recognition. The same holds for any compliant RON platform: validity comes from the notary's commission and the governing state law, not the software brand. Check that the receiving party accepts electronically notarized documents.
What is a cheaper alternative to DocuSign Notary for a small business?
For a handful of notarizations a year, a pay-per-use service is cheapest. From about four sessions a month, a plan with sessions included usually costs the same or less: ENotary Starter is 119 USD per month for 4 network notary sessions with identity checks and seals included.
Does ENotary replace DocuSign eSignature?
No. ENotary handles remote online notarization end to end, including signing inside the notary session. If your company runs every agreement through DocuSign, keep it for signatures and use ENotary for documents that need a notary.
